What to wear??
When planning your wardrobe, it can feel a little overwhelming. I like to start with one outfit, typically mom's outfit, but sometimes if you have something special for one of the kiddos, start with that instead. Then you can pull your colors and textures and build up from there.
Another thing to consider is your home decor and colours. These images will be displayed throughout your home, so you want to choose colour schemes that will compliment your space.
Tips to keep in mind:
-Comfort is #1! Our time together will be spent likely running and moving around with the kiddos. Having yourself and family members in clothing that is comfortable, a good fit and not itchy will be a big help for us capturing all those fun moments.
-Colours: mustard yellow, soft or mauve pink, browns or beige, dark blue, hunter green, dark reds/oranges; These are just some of the great colours that will give you some pop in the images. Doing a quick google search for colour schemes for the correct time of year is also very helpful for visual aids.

Accessories?? Heck, YES!!
- Headbands, suspenders, hats, scarves, mittens, jewelry, blankets...Any of these would add so much fun and your own personal style to the photos.
- Patterns: Floral patterns (especially for mom or sister) are perfect, but I would try to keep it down to a few family members wearing a pattern. Colours and patterns should compliment each other; you do not need to match.
- Have fun and add lots of different layers and textures to your outfits. Knits, lace, or denim are some great options. Layers are extra important for those fall/winter sessions to help keep everyone happy in the cold.
Aim for timeless: To do this, steer away from logos. Logos can distract from your photos and we really want the focus to be your beautiful family and moments together.
What to expect..
To start off the session, we will aim for that perfect posed "Christmas card" Photo. Then once that is out of the way, we will move to fun, more unposed moments. I want to capture your family interacting as you are now. I want to capture the little sweet moments with your partner and kiddos.
Feel free to bring a blanket and a book, if that is a moment you want captured. Are there any little games or songs you love to do together? Bring your ideas along too! I'll give you prompts and ideas as well throughout the session.
How to prepare for the session..
About a week before our session, start mentioning my name or "Photographer lady" to your kiddos and how we are going to go on a little adventure together with the family. I'm not above bribery, so a little incentive treat at the end (Ice cream or another favorite), is always a great idea to help get the kids excited!
How to prepare your partner? Just tell them to focus on you & the kids, showing affection; they will do great!!
Don't forget to prepare yourself too; This is the perfect time to go get your nails or hair done (if that is your thing), for me just getting in a nice relaxing bubble bath, that does the trick! Just a little pampering will help relieve some of the stress of planning this session. Just remember to have fun and just enjoy the time with your family!
I am here for you! Any questions or concerns, I want to help make this session everything you hope for! Call, text, Message me!
